About When the Bell Rang

Long before intercoms and digital clocks, a single iron bell on the schoolhouse roof set the whole day in motion. Children filed into rows of wooden desks, stood to recite the pledge, then bent their heads over slates or dog-eared primers as the teacher called the lesson. The abacus clicked, the wall map rustled, and the world outside the tall windows waited patiently until recess set everyone free.

How to play
