About Nostalgia & Eras

Saturday television in the 1980s had its own unhurried rhythm — mornings given over to Noel Edmonds and his multi-coloured telephone, afternoons swallowed by the sweep of Grandstand's results service, and evenings lit up by Bruce Forsyth coaxing contestants through The Generation Game. Blankety Blank drew the family onto the sofa with its tinsel wand and gentle chaos, while the TARDIS spun through time and space just before the nine o'clock news. It was a day that began with cereal in front of the telly and ended with everyone agreeing they hadn't watched that much.
