About Mahatma Gandhi and the Salt March

On October 2, 1869, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in the coastal town of Porbandar, India. He would grow into the man the world called Mahatma, "great soul", leading millions to the sea in 1930 to gather salt from the shore as a stand against unjust British taxation. That 240-mile march, walked with bare feet and steady purpose, became one of history's most powerful demonstrations that truth and peace could move mountains.
