About Voyager 1 Launched: A Message to the Stars

On September 5, 1977, a Titan IIIE rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral and sent Voyager 1 on a path that would carry it past Jupiter and Saturn before anyone alive could imagine what lay beyond. Tucked aboard was a golden phonograph record, copper plated in gold, holding greetings in 55 languages, music from around the world, and the sounds of surf, wind, and a mother's first words to her child. More than four decades later, Voyager 1 became the first human-made object confirmed to have crossed into interstellar space, still whispering signals home across more than 15 billion miles.

How to play
