About Voyager 2 Flies By Jupiter: A Giant Up Close
On August 20, 1977, NASA launched Voyager 2 from Cape Canaveral, beginning one of the boldest journeys ever attempted. The spacecraft swept past Jupiter in July 1979, sending back images of swirling storms and volcanic moons that no one had ever seen in such vivid detail. That single launch set Voyager 2 on a path through Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, rewriting the story of our solar system one planet at a time.
