The moment marked a turning point after the devastation of the Second World War, a shared resolve to replace conflict with diplomacy, and suspicion with cooperation. From that day forward, October 24 has been observed as United Nations Day, a reminder that the vision of a peaceful, dignified world is one the nations of the earth chose together.
