About Knights & the Tournament
On a tournament day, the meadow outside the castle walls became a world of its own, bright pavilions striped in every color, heralds calling each knight's lineage to the crowd, and the ground shaking as two armored riders thundered toward each other with lances couched. The knight who rode onto that field wore not just steel but identity: a crest on the helm, a device on the shield, a banner flying the colors his squire had polished by candlelight the night before. For the crowd pressing against the ropes, the moment a lance shattered against a rival's shield was as thrilling as any spectacle the medieval world had to offer.
