About The Amazon
The Amazon carries more water to the sea than any other river on Earth, draining a basin so vast it spans nine countries. Along its banks and winding tributaries, dugout canoes glide beneath a canopy alive with macaws and toucans, while jaguars pad silently through the undergrowth and giant lily pads float on still, dark backwaters. The river itself shifts and breathes with the seasons, swelling in the wet months until entire forests stand knee-deep in warm, tannin-stained water.
