About The Garden Spider

The garden spider, Argiope aurantia, the bold yellow-and-black orb-weaver, is one of the most familiar architects in the backyard world. Each evening she repairs or entirely rebuilds her orb web, anchoring radial spokes to grass stems and fence posts before laying down the sticky spiral that catches the light like a string of tiny jewels. By morning, a thread of dew traces every line, turning the whole structure into something closer to lace than a trap.
