About The Day of Atonement
Once a year on the tenth day of the seventh month, Israel was called to humble itself, to fast, and to draw near in stillness. The high priest alone passed beyond the heavy veil into the Most Holy Place, carrying the blood of atonement and a cloud of rising incense. It was a day unlike any other, no labor, no noise, only the long, quiet work of confession, repentance, and the hope of mercy.
