About The Altar of Sacrifice

At the entrance to the tabernacle's outer court stood the altar of burnt offering, a great structure of acacia wood overlaid with bronze, fitted with horns at each corner and a grate below the fire. The Law commanded that the flame never go out; morning and evening the priests tended it, laying wood and offering the appointed sacrifices. Smoke rose like a column above the camp, a visible sign of covenant between a holy God and the people who drew near to him in worship.
