About Ancient Rome
At its height, Rome governed lands stretching from Scotland's edge to the sands of Mesopotamia, bound together by more than 50,000 miles of paved roads. Life pulsed through the Forum, merchants, senators, and citizens crossing the same worn stones, while the roar of the Colosseum carried across the seven hills. Rome did not merely conquer the ancient world; it reorganized it, and its laws, language, and architecture quietly shaped the one that followed.
