The Road to Appomattox: a free online word search

An Appomattox word search, free and printable, set in the spring of 1865 when the retreat ended in a Virginia parlor and the men started home.

About The Road to Appomattox

The spring of 1865 was muddy and hungry, and it moved fast. Richmond was abandoned on April 2, and Lee's army ran west along back roads with Union cavalry on its flank, looking for rations that weren't there. A week later the two generals sat down in a farmhouse parlor, and afterward the soldiers on both sides simply picked up their gear and started walking.
