About The Jazz Quartet

The Dave Brubeck Quartet recorded Time Out in 1959, and it became one of the first jazz albums to sell a million copies. The lineup was Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto sax, Eugene Wright on bass and Joe Morello on drums, and Morello could make an odd meter like 5/4 feel easy. In a group that size the pianist comps behind the soloist while the bassist walks the pulse, so nobody has anywhere to hide. Morello's brushes on a ballad are a good reason to turn the volume down and listen closely.

How to play
