About The Upright Bass

The upright bass stands at the quiet center of jazz, its low voice felt as much as heard. A bassist walks the changes night after night, four beats to the bar, fingers pressing thick steel strings against a carved spruce top, and the whole band floats on that foundation. Whether plucked with the fingers in the pizzicato style or drawn with a rosined bow, the instrument's wooden body amplifies every nuance into something warm, round, and alive.

How to play
