About Baby Animals
April on a working farm is barely restful. Ewes that were broad-sided all winter suddenly produce lambs that are on their feet within the hour, and the barn fills with a noise somewhere between a bleat and a squeak. Ducklings follow their mother in a line so neat it looks rehearsed, and a new foal will be nosing around the paddock before the mud has dried on its knees. It's the same show every spring, and it never quite gets old.
