About Easter Sweets

The Easter basket has been a sugar delivery system since at least the early 1900s, when candy makers started molding hollow chocolate eggs to fill them. Jelly beans became an Easter staple sometime in the 1930s, probably because their egg shape made them an obvious fit. Peeps, those marshmallow chicks from Just Born Candy in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, were hand-squeezed through a pastry tube in 1953, a process that took about 27 hours per batch. Now the machines turn them out in six minutes.

How to play
